Wardlaw Academy hosted their volleyball Senior Night on Monday, October 6. Senior girls included Bailey Sturkie, Katherine Trotter, McKenna Quarles, Taylor Hill, and Ashley Reichling. It was quite a night, with the biggest crowd of the season and a lively student section.
The packed gym was full of energy and excitement filled every inch of the building. As we took a moment to recognize our seniors, there was not a single eye dry in the stands. It was an emotional and bittersweet moment watching the senior girls walk across the gym floor with their parents, receive their flowers and gift, and embrace their coaches with a warm hug. Although we didn’t win the game, our team showed heart and determination. Despite the scoreboard, they never failed to try their hardest and laid it all out on the court for their last home game. They made their coaches, fellow teammates, fans, and families proud. Our 2026 senior girls are truly a treasure and will always be remembered as hardworking and dedicated players.
During the game, Senior McKenna Quarles was honored for getting her 1,000th kill in her entire volleyball career at Wardlaw Academy. The crowd erupted into cheers as McKenna celebrated with her teammates. McKenna is truly the epitome of an inspiring, supportive teammate and persistent volleyball player. She makes her team better by not only lending her amazing skills, but also her positive attitude and willingness to encourage others.
All of our Senior girls have shown us what it means to be a true teammate and student athlete. Bailey Sturkie, Katherine Trotter, Mckenna Quarles, Taylor Hill, and Ashley Reichling will be dearly missed next volleyball season at Wardlaw Academy.
As they move into the state playoffs, the future of this team is bright. Best of luck to our senior girls and the rest of our Lady Patriots as they compete in the playoffs on October 24-25. We are so proud of you all!
